This is one Charlie Munger liked to repeat, and it's definitely a helpful way to see any problem from a fresh perspective.

"You can learn just as much from identifying what doesn’t work as you can from spotting what does. What are the mistakes, errors, and flubs that you want to avoid? Inversion is not about finding good advice, but rather about finding anti-advice. It teaches you what to avoid."

If you're trying to improve your management skills, ask what would a bad manager to, and eliminate those activities.

If you're trying to make your company more innovative, ask how you might make it less innovative, and avoid doing so.

Where do others screw up when trying to form habits, get fit or grow their brand, and stop them from happening first.
